MEET ANDREW KUSHNICK

“I offer a safe and supportive environment in which you can explore new pathways towards growth and fulfillment.”

In the therapy room, you want to feel comfortable. You want to be heard. You want to feel understood. This is why I strive to create an atmosphere of warmth, genuineness, and sometimes even humor.

My approach is personable, collaborative, and practical. As a former practicing attorney, I bring conflict resolution skills and an analytical sense to my work.

In relationships, it’s very easy to become stuck in repetitive cycles of conflict, causing us to feel disconnected and alone. I help couples to identify and then overcome those frustrating patterns by creating a new and more meaningful level of emotional connection.

I work with clients on how to communicate more effectively in order to create bonds that are both enduring and enriching. I also have experience working with adults, children and adolescents, on problems such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, work/life stress, anger management, relationship problems, family conflict, LGBTQ concerns, phase of life issues, and grief and loss.

I offer EMDR for the treatment of traumatic stress, anxiety, panic attacks, complicated grief, past emotional, physical or sexual abuse, and disturbing memories. For clients who experienced misattunement, benign neglect, betrayal, absence or emotional abuse by early caregivers, or in romantic relationships, I also offer Attachment-Focused EMDR.

Rather than adhering to any one-size-fits-all approach, I prefer to blend the best of “what works” from cognitive behavioral therapy, attachment theory, and mindfulness-based, experiential and solution-focused modalities. The important thing is to tailor an approach to your needs, your goals, the way you see the world.

I am eager to get to know you as an individual. I look forward to helping you manage stress, build healthy and rewarding relationships, and find satisfaction and well-being in your life.
