MEET JILL HARTMAN

“I believe self-acceptance and striving for positive change are not mutually exclusive.”

When day to day life feels overwhelming enough, finding meaning, connection and authenticity can feel elusive. Layer on life transitions, and it’s no wonder managing it all can feel impossible. Navigating a big shift in life—be it a new relationship, a career change, deciding whether or not to have children, facing the challenges of having an aging parent, a friendship that has begun to feel toxic, or grieving a loss—you name it, changes can throw us for a loop.

In my work, I help people navigate the murky waters of transitions, and the anxiety and feelings of inertia that can come with them, without losing sight of the rest of what they need to manage in their lives. Helping people connect with, and stay true to, their authentic selves is what makes my work meaningful. In the therapy room I am empathetic and compassionate, while not shying away from being direct. I am an observer, a questioner and an active listener.

I use a collaborative and integrative approach to therapy, realizing that no one path is right for everyone. My therapeutic approach is grounded in Attachment Theory, and I also draw on Family Systems and Narrative approaches. I have an MA in Counseling Psychology from The Wright Institute.
