“By focusing on a thought or feeling with curiosity and gentleness, we begin on a path towards understanding our needs and expressing ourselves authentically.”

Sometimes when I’m on a jog, I am caught spellbound by a flower that I pass. Often in those moments, I stop and inspect. I smell the flower and touch it. I soak in its intricacy. I take pictures of the flower from all angles, experimenting with different perspectives.

Of course, the thing that sends us to seek therapy is rarely a beautiful flower but rather something painful, scary, frustrating, confusing or sad. Regardless of the reason why you seek therapy, I see what we do in the room as a process of illuminating and discovering that which we easily run past.

By focusing on a thought or feeling with curiosity and gentleness, we begin on a path towards understanding our needs and expressing ourselves authentically. The goal, as I see it, is to feel the full spectrum of emotions, to become the person we want to be, and to have meaningful and fulfilling relationships. At the heart of this, I believe, is the cultivation and nourishment of a wise self.

As a therapist, I am warm, authentic, and deeply curious. The approach I take is collaborative and I take an active role in our dialogue.

My background is in Gestalt therapy which focuses on increasing awareness of the connections between mind, body, emotions and spirit. With greater attention to of all parts of ourselves, we open ourselves up to more choice in our behaviors in decisions. Queer, feminist, and multicultural frameworks are also a cornerstone of the work that I do, as our health and well-being are strongly tied to the impacts of systems of oppression.

I work with teens, adults, couples and families on a broad range of concerns. Some clients come to me with racing minds, heavy hearts, environmental stress, or sexual trauma. Others have questions about dreams, non-monogamy, and family dynamics.

We may explore factors that shape identity like race, gender, sexuality and religion, or how to articulate boundaries and manage differing needs in intimate relationships. Yes, the work can be hard at points, and sessions can also be filled with laughter. I love to share and celebrate joy with you!

I am happy to answer your questions about therapy and to see if I might be a good fit got you. I look forward to connecting with you. Please reach out via the box below.
